Namasé Rhapsody differs in several ways from most of Jan Van der Roost's other wind orchestra works and captivates with surprising twists and allusions to the music of John Adams. The first, minimalist movement is followed by a lyrical, expressive second movement for various soloists and registers. The third movement brings a change of mood into play with a rigid metric pattern before the work ends powerfully and energetically.
