From me flows what you call Time for five percussionists and orchestra was commissioned for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and its Music Director, Seiji Ozawa, by the Carnegie Hall Corporation in honor of Carnegie Hall's Centennial Season.

lt was given its first performance by Nexus (Bob Becker, Bill Cahn, Robin Engelman, Russell Hartenberger and John Wyre) and the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Seiji Ozawa at Carnegie Hall, New York on October 19, 1990.
