Of Skies, Rivers, Lakes and Mountains

Philip Sparke entitled this descriptive work in honour of America’s natural wonders with lines from the hymn America the Beautiful: O Beautiful the Spacious Skies is as light as a spring sky, From Sea to Shining Sea describes calm,flowing and bubbling waters, while in the third movement, For Purple Majestic Mountains, the glowing hues of the mountains are set to music.
