No. 2 Silly Scarecrow
Silly Scarecrow is the second of four pieces from Scarecrow Songs. This haiku of Yayu was translated by Peter Beilenson in Haiku Harvest published by Peter Pauper Press. The woodwind/marimba or piano accompaniment can be performed by any combination of instruments available and is intended to simulate the frantic activity of the birds while the choral parts are meant to mock the scarecrow's feeble attempts to ward off the birds.
