Mit diesem Frühwerk, das Hasse als Schüler Alessandro Scarlattis noch ganz unter dessen Einfluss komponierte und das im September 1725 auf dem Landsitz des königlichen Rates Carlo Carmignano aufgeführt wurde, konnte Hasse als Komponist in Italien zum ersten Mal öffentlich auf sich aufmerksam machen. Das Libretto stammte von Francesco Ricciardi; die berühmten Sänger Vittoria Tesi und Carlo Broschi [Farinello] sangen die beiden Hauptrollen.
