Chicago Festival

In December 2007 the German composer Markus Götz visited MID WEST in Chicago. This is one of the most important events for wind instruments and brass music in the USA. Markus Götz was impressed by the positive, energetic spirit that characterizes the event. Together with the impressions of Chicago, the winter metropolis of millions, this "spirit" inspired him to write his latest composition, Chicago Festival. After a striking opening theme, which is to represent the forward-looking mood during MID-WEST, the winter view of Lake Michigan was the inspiration for the lyrical part at ¾ Takt. A cheerful section is dedicated to the thousands of young people who make music during the festival. The composition ends with a recapitulation of the opening part and a brilliant finale. Markus Götz dedicates this composition to his publisher Thomas Rundel, who accompanied him to Chicago.
