William Byrd offers a beautiful setting for the motet, “O Gloriosa Domina.” James Marvin has transposed the original up a 4th, gaining great clarity for the treble voice. A highly expressive setting of a colorful andpoignant text extolling the virtues of the Virgin Mary, the motet is divided into four brief sections, each devoted to a verse of the Lauds Hymn. The final “Amen” is particularly striking. An enduring text that ishighly engaging to sing, this lovely three-part work is a must for treble choirs.
