Ever since the Middle Ages, many stories have circulated about a mysterious swan knight. Lohengrin, Helias and Elius are alternately his names - no one knows his real name.

Nijmegen's Heyendael castle is the centrepiece of the Swan Knight saga, which dates back to the time of the Crusades.

As in many stories from this era, trust and love are central. The Swan Knightsage was commissioned by the Netherlands Institute of Wind Music (NIB) Foundation. Also a wonderful epic for your orchestra!
