In Telemann's extremely extensive oeuvre, which has still not been fully researched and published, works for the bassoon as a solo instrument make up a relalively small part, compared to other instruments.
On the other hand, the unique double concerto for recorder, bassoon and strings in F major and the sonata for bassoon and basso continuo in F minor are among the best works for this instrument from the first half of the 18th century, alongside the concertos by Antonio Vivaldi.
Together with the concertos by Mozart and Weber, it is this sonata that every bassoonist studies in his or her training.
