During his trip to Riga Johan van der Linden visited on of the architectural treasures of this city, dating from 1344. A striking Gothic building with a Dutch Renaissance facade. It was used to house travelling for single members of the merchants‘ guild. Johan van der Linden used the architectural rhytms and beautiful shapes of this building in this piece. Riga is a very musical city, full of classical, jazz and choirmusic. All these influences are in the piece. Commisioned by Ottomani. Premiered on 19-05-2012, Toonzaal, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, concours for saxophonequartets.
