Moby-Dick ist ein programmatisches Konzertwerk und basiert auf dem 1851 in London und New York erschienenen, gleichnamigen Roman von Herman Melville. Es beschreibt die schicksalhafte Fahrt eines Walfangschiffes, dessen Kapitän Ahab mit blindem Hass den weißen Pottwal Moby Dick jagt, der ihm ein Bein abgerissen hat. Die einzelnen Teile sind: Ouverture, Captain Ahab, Deep Blue Sea, The white Wale! Und Hymn to the Sea.
