A musette is a small bagpipe that was used in nearly all the European countries in times past. Like the modern bagpipe it contained a leather bag full of wind which supplied a drone bass against whatever melody was being played onthe pipes of the instrument. This simple transcription of a Musette by Bach (transposed to E Major) uses open fifths which very much sounds like the drone of a musette or bagpipe.
