These character pieces were written for pianist Annie Yim. As she shares a Hong Kong heritage with the composer, the sounds and scenes of their childhood were reverberating in the composer’s mind during the composition process. Rather than making big statements, these musical vinaigrette are made of snippets of emotions triggered by reminiscences of their early years in the once-British-colony.
