from "In Memoriam"
I have always liked this robust poem: banishing the old and welcoming the new gives a joyful and positive start to the new year.
The title reminds me of the bells of St. Paul’s Cathedral where I was a chorister. When it was particularly windy in winter, the quarterly chimes would quiver in the air, and sound truly “wild”. I have tried to capture this haunting memory in this setting.
