Aroldo is one of Verdi's rarely performed operas, "especially since the 1968 rediscovery of Stiffelio." A revival took place at the Wexford Festival in 1959; it was not performed in the United States until May 4, 1963, at the Academy of Music in New York. The London premiere took place in February 1964.
