In 2013 Mike Svoboda was commissioned by the Sieghardt Rometsch Foundation to write a work for the three laureates of the Aeolus Competition. A welcome opportunity for the composer who himself is a dedicated instrumentalist: 'I know the inner life of a wind player, and for just that reason it was a special challenge for me to find a music which does not take refuge in the brave new world of air noise & co. and which does not cling to the last golden age of brass from 100 years ago with its endless scales and arpeggios.' The three different soloists perform as a group, but each of them also has his own moment in the limelight.
