Three Pieces op. 72

Three Pieces is a suite in three movements for trumpet and piano. The rather fast first movement is reminiscent of a classical minuet, enlivened by numerous semiquaver ornaments. The middle movement is a calm ballade in 4/4, the lyrical main theme of which stands in contrast to fanfare-style sections. A rousing tarantella in rondo form concludes the work.
