This is a truly exceptional work, and one of the finest in the repertoire for a string duet. The two parts are individual and equal at nearly all times in the music. There are times when one or the other instrument has a dominantmelodic line, but then the subsidiary part always has considerable interest. Written for Violin and Viola.
