The flywheel is turning fast and steady, thereby energy is stored. If its rotation changes, the energy begins to flow. Speeding up absorbs the power, braking leads to a release. Force is needed for momentum, but once the halt is overcome, the wheel is ready to provide. As well the gyroscope performs according to the same effect - standing, turning, keeping balance - like a floating dancing couple on the parquet floor.
