Generous use of unison and two-part writing mixed with four-part phrases, many usingsoprano divisi, combine for an easy-to-learn, yet very effective, piece. Its ability to be played on piano or organ makes it suitable for churches with varied accompaniment options. Jon Paige has adeptly captured the feeling ofanticipation at the prospect of the approaching Messiah, “Your King is coming today. Lift high your glad hosannas, rejoice, forever give praise.” Exciting.
