Banana Island

Banana Island is an extraordinary, imaginary place: coconut palms, date palms, mango trees, banana trees and mangroves grow there in abundance and the animals live in heavenly harmony. Several themes develop on the basis of the Caribbean dance rhythm Soca and a dialogue is created between the various instrumental groups. The middle section offers the cornet and trombone the opportunity to show off their solo skills. The work sparkles with joie de vivre! This piece is part of the musical narrative La Malédiction d'Aragne (The Curse of Aragne) by Dominique Schweizer and was commissioned by the Lyre de Courtion (conductor: Dominique Morel) on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.
