Georg Benda was born on 30. Juni 1722 in Bohemia, and 1997 was the 275. anniversary of his birth. He is the most celebrated member of the musical Benda family and besides works for the stage he wrote chiefly piano compositions. Zelter wrote to Goethe of Georg Benda: A true musician; I have never since met his like. The grade is similar to easy Haydn sonatas.
