The Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847) has been highly regarded in Britain from the time of his first visit in 1829. His anthem Hear My Prayer has been a bastion of the Anglicanchoralrepertoire since its composition in 1844.
O For The Wings Of A Dove is the most famous passage from Hear My Prayer, and has rightly gained fame in its own right, as a piece for solo Voice.Thegraceful melodies and use of the full range make it a challenging but highly rewarding piece for any Soprano or Treble. It is presented here with an accompaniment suitable for the Piano.
