“Bagpiper”
Suite for Oboe and Piano “Bagpiper” Op. 11 from 1953 is an early work of Viktor Kalabis (1923–2006), one of the most distinctive composers of Czech music of the twentieth century. It is a fresh composition inspired by folklore, with a lucid expression perfectly reflected by the titles of its separate sections. Its technical ease and accessible diatonic language make it a popular repertoire choice for young musicians.
The present edition is a re-edition of the third publication (Supraphon, 1969).
