March
Abraham Holzmannn's most famous march “Feuert los!” goes back to a well-known episode from the Spanish-American War: During a sea battle in the Bay of Manila in 1898, Admiral Dewey was on the bridge of his flagship “Olympia” Captain Charles Gridley awaiting the order to fire from his superior. When Dewey ordered, “Fire when you are ready” he passed the instruction to the crew with the following words: “Well, guys, blaze away!” Holzmann's “Blaze Away!” became one of the most famous and popular American marches even outside of the United States.
