Diptych

Diptique is the French word for "diptych", a two-part picture. The first part of this two-part musical picture has an oriental flair with characteristic pentatonic melody lines and chords. In contrast, the second part is a cheerful Saltarello dance that emphasizes the finesse of the woodwinds. The message of this juxtaposition of Eastern and Western music is that music can break down all cultural, religious or political boundaries!
