(Parts 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 and 13)These ar no pieces for children, but a series of charming pieces about children, originally composed for piano in 1838. Part 1 “Von fremden Ländern und Menschen”(About foreign countries and their inhabitants) has a marvelous tune, supported by a figure of triplets. Part 2 “Kuriose Geschichte” (A strange affair) tells a terrible story. Part 7, the famous “Träumerei”(Dreaming asay), is a musical evocation of twilight. Part 13 “Der Dichter Spricht” (Conversation with the Poet) is quite self explanatory.
