*Vilvoorde near Brussels, 7 May 1901, +Brussels, 12 June 1988. He graduated from the conservatories in Brussels and Antwerp and completed his compositional training as a pupil of P. Dukas in Paris. In 1925, together with like-minded people in Brussels, he founded the group of "Synthetists", which was dedicated to the contemporary spirit of Belgian music. In 1949 he was entrusted with the management of the Brussels Conservatory. Poot composed two operas, three ballets, two oratorios, three symphonies, concerts, chamber music and songs.
