Tchiki Duo
Instrumentation: 3 dunduns (low + medium + high), 2 bass drums
This energetic and powerful percussion trio is a tribute to the drums of Japan (daiko) and Africa (dundun).
"Fudō is a Japanese term used in Zen Buddhism, which means an unwavering serenity of the soul, a higher stage of consciousness."
This piece was written for the finale of a percussion show by the Tchiki duo, with the combination "duo + soloist". It is a piece that requires great technical precision for the duo who cannot see each other, a traditional approach to African rhythms, and an energetic performance on the bass drums (daiko), resulting in a musically virtuosic and visually impressive piece.
