Sardinian Songbook, part of a cycle for the Ligeti Quartet, is based on throat singing traditions. Since string quartets cannot sit closely together, the players move apart during the piece to mimic the closeness of tenors. The four movements can be played individually or in the specified order.
Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689 – 1755)

Boismortier's Six Sonatas for two violins Op. 71 were published in 1738 and were long considered lost. However, a copy was discovered in Lyon in 1981. The sonatas combine simple and challenging technical elements and showcase Boismortier's typical structure and musical language.

In honor of the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner, the English Trombone Consort released this chorale with fanfare for trombone ensemble. The "Thankful praise from the soul" is the second half of Bruckner's Das edle Herz WAB 66 ("The Noble Heart), composed around 1951 for the name day of a choir member from St. Florian's Abbey.
