Grammy Award Nominated composer Peter Graham was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland. He studied at the University of Edinburgh, and Goldsmith’s College, London, where he completed his PhD in composition. He has been commissioned by the United States Airforce Band and BMG/RCA Red Label, and he works regularly on commissions for BBC Television and Radio.
He has had residencies with the famous Black Dyke Band, and with Her Majesty’s Coldstream Guards Band as the first ever civilian composer-in-residence. His music has been selected as repertoire and test-pieces for many National Brass Band Championships all around the world, he was awarded the Ostwald Prize for Original Composition for Symphonic Winds in 2002, and his album of xylophone music, which he wrote for Evelyn Glennie, was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is currently professor of composition at the University of Salford.
